10 Simple Ways To Use Tea Tree Oil For Acne Scars

tea tree oilAcne itself is embarrassing enough. Unfortunately, once it heals, it leaves behind scars that are very difficult to remove, and these can cause just as much self-consciousness as the original blemishes. There are plenty of commercial creams that claim they can erase scars and dark spots, but they’re expensive and often ineffective, and they contain chemicals that can cause further damage to skin.

Don’t bother with those. Instead, try these home remedies for acne scars. They’re natural, affordable, and effective, and we’re about to tell you exactly how to use it. First, take a look at why it works.

Always use 100% pure Australian tea tree essential oil. Thursday Manor, Desert Essence, and Tea Tree Wonders are trusted brands that can be ordered online. As of now, they can’t be found in stores. These brands may seem expensive, but they do not contain harmful chemicals and they don’t cause side effects. Remember to dilute tea tree oil when using it to fade acne scars, otherwise it may cause irritation or itching.

Tips and Precautions:

For best results, follow the advice below when using tea tree oil to lighten acne scars.

  • Always dilute it with water or carrier oils such as olive oil, coconut oil, or sunflower oil.
  • Use of undiluted oil may cause irritation, blistering, redness, itching, and over-drying.
  • Use lotions and soaps that contain tea tree oil.
  • Use tea tree oil remedies short-term to avoid skin irritation.
  • Before starting regular treatments, do a patch test to find out if you are allergic to it. If you experience allergic reactions, consult your doctor.
  • Get regular exercise, eat a healthy diet, and stay hydrated.

It is hard to tell the exact time frame as everyone’s skin condition is different. So try the method regularly until you achieve the results. Apart from that eat a nutritional diet to heal from inside out. Exfoliate regularly to remove accumulated dead skin and toxins.

I applied tea tree oil and aloe vera mixture overnight for 2 nights. Instead of the scars lightening up, older scars actually got darker (blacker). Is that supposed to happen? I did apply a little more tea tree oil than you recommended as I did not notice my skin being sensitive to it.

The tea tree oil should be diluted before applying it to the pimple directly. The direct application is the reason for the aggravation. Apply aloe vera gel to get relief from the reaction and pimple.

We recommend following the instructions mentioned in the above article for treating the acne scars with tea tree oil. Make sure to patch test before applying on the acne scars. If you are experiencing burning and itching after the application then the concentration of tea tree oil might be higher for your skin. We recommend reducing the tea tree oil quantity and try it again. If you are still experiencing discomforts or the scars get darker then avoid the application of tea tree oil. Apply only aloe vera and check if it helps.
